Witchy Writers Spotlight: Mike “Derek” Rasco!

Picture

mikeIn honor of celebrating my first full year of business, GypsyWytch Diaries
has launched a new series to spotlight some of the magickal characters who have supported me by purchasing my handcrafted journals!

When I sent out the invitation, I wasn’t surprised at all that one of the first to respond was Mike Rasco, who has been a loyal customer and active member of all my free online courses from the beginning!

To help spread the word about the power of keeping a spiritual writing practice, I’ve asked Mike to share a little about his craft, which he’s graciously shared with us here! Read on for a little sneak peek into the real life of Witchy Writer!

GypsyWytch Diaries: What is your name? Is there a “given” name or spiritual name you like to be called by?

Mike Rasco: My “witch name” is “Derek”… I go by Derek when I’m in the circle talking with the gods and the spirits, doing my rituals and celebrations.

GWD: Do you consider yourself to be a “witch,” or is there another term to define your path?

MR: I do consider myself do be a witch.

GWD: How would you describe your craft and/or writing practice?

MR: I am a solitary practitioner. Recently I joined a coven and have been to one Full Moon ritual with them. It was great being with people who feel as I do, but I will continue my solitary craft and journey, as that is very special and personal for me… There are a few spells that I do, one in particular every New Moon and Full Moon, but my craft is mostly centered on talking with the gods and spirits and in celebrating the Esbats and Sabbats. I write in my journals about rituals I want to perform on special days, and I also write about the spiritual journey I’m on; where I am now on this path and what I need to work on.

GWD: Do you call your book a “Book of Shadows? If so, what would you define a “book of shadows” to be?

MR: I do call it a Book of Shadows. A BOS to me is a journal containing spells, rituals, celebrations and personal thoughts. It is meant for no one but myself. I tend to look at it as very personal, self-healing and therapeutic. This is where I write about my personal spiritual journey..

GWD: How did you first hear about GypsyWytch Diaries?

MR: When I first started on this journey I was looking for a special book to create my Book of Shadows. An internet search led me to GypsyWytch Diaries!

GWD: Which are your favorite things from GypsyWytch Diaries?

MR: I Own “The Witching Moon” and “The Power of Three” GypsyWytch Diaries, and the “Death” Magic Journal. I love having these journals. They certainly enhance my journey and my craft. I very much enjoy the blog as well. It has greatly helped me connect to and explore my craft.
